Retainer Agreements for Ongoing Support

About Monthly Retainer Agreements

What is a retainer agreement?

Unlike one-off projects that are short and have a set start and end date, a retainer is an agreement where you pay a fixed monthly fee for a set number of hours to have ongoing work provided OR ongoing access.

The two types of retainers (Pay for Work or Pay for Access) are what you'll have to choose from based on your needs and objectives.

  • Pay for Access is where you are not paying for work deliverables. You're paying for your ability to get readily available access (for a set number of hours each month) to your freelancer or agency's expertise, knowledge, and experience when you need it.
